is a Hawaii nonprofit organization established in 2004.
President, Elizabeth Paek,
Vice-President and Secretary, Liann
Y. Ebesugawa, and Vice-President and Treasurer,
Sheree N. Stewart, met while
attending the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson
School of Law. Together they worked as writers and board
members of the UH Law Review. Published authors Sheree
(former Editor-in-Chief) and Liann (former Executive
and Managing Editor) assisted in editing Elizabeth’s
(former Casenotes Editor) animal law article,
Fido Seeks Full Membership in the Family: Dismantling
the Property Classification of Companion Animals,
published in the Summer of 2003 (see also Animal
Legal and Historical Center's website).
During law school, Elizabeth, Liann and Sheree would
often exchange information about the health, diet, and
behavior of their dogs. They soon recognized that they
each possessed a wealth of information and that sharing
their knowledge helped to improve the quality of life
for their dogs. This recognition inspired Elizabeth,
Sheree, and Liann to create a local public forum for
other animal guardians to share their knowledge as a
resource for others.
Today, Elizabeth, Liann, and Sheree are
attorneys in Hawaii. However, their friendship is based
on more than just a shared interest in the law. Their
motivation to create
stems from their dedicated love and compassion for dogs,
and a desire to promote the welfare of all dogs in Hawaii.
Elizabeth, Liann and Sheree thank you for visiting
and hope that you will continue to support
by visiting and contributing
to this site!
